Misdemeanor Diversion Program Representative for a long term assignment.

Length of assignment: Present to Dec 2018, will be notify if further assists is needed.

To divert first-time arrests or citation for eligible misdemeanor charges. Rather than issuing a citation or making an arrest where probable cause exists, law enforcements officers will instead tissue a referral form that will initiate the diversionary process by directing the youth to contact the MDP rep. This program for 16-17 year olds who have no adult criminal record.

Once the law enforcement officer confirms a youth is eligible for MDP, he/she will then submit the info to the MDP rep within 48 hours.

The MDP rep is responsible for the following during intake:
-Receives Referral forms and Incident report from the office. -Sets up appointment with youth or parent/guardian within 5 days. -At meeting, ensures the intake interview is completed, all required forms are signed, the Diversion plan is entered and mandatory court date is assigned. -Monitors the process to ensure the Diversion Plan is completed within 90 days of being entered.

After 90 days, the MDP Rep will determine if there has been successful compliance with the terms If there is compliance, no charges will be filed. If there has not been compliance, the MDP Rep will notify the officer so that the filing of formal charges can be considered.

MDP rep will preform the following Youth programming responsibilities:
-Recruiting and maintaining a list of agencies and entities providing appropriate youth classes or program for MDP participants. --Ensuring a memorandum of understanding between the MP and the community youth program are entered into upon acceptance of proposal. -Ensuring that information on collateral consequences and community resources are provided to all MDP participant s and their parent/guardian.

Upon confirmation of compliance, the MDP rep will release the youth from MDP and notify the MDP law officer. In the case of non-compliance or new charges for the youth, the law officer will be notified so that the filing of formal charges can be considered. Records of MDP participants and compliance will be maintained by the MDP Rep.

Must be proficient in Word and Excel

Associates' degree with course work emphasis in Criminal Justice, Public justice, Law Enforcement or Business Administration supplemented by two years of experience in social work and/or case management in a public agency.
